When Goat Yoga went viral in 2016, I had no clue it would have such a far-reaching and wonderful impact on people. To see how everything has been playing out has been one of the most gratifying things in my life. When something goes viral, you can never really be prepared for that. It’s like getting on a roller coaster that you can’t get off. You don’t want to get off, but it’s the most intense thing I’ve ever lived through. I’m still living through it!
In the beginning, it felt like every business decision I made had to be made at warp speed and every decision was a very risky one. I was making everything up as I went along and not really anticipating if this was going to be a brand that could be around for the long haul. I knew in my heart it could because I’m living it and see the benefits of Goat Yoga but I wasn’t sure if the World would see it as I did.
Goat Yoga is a unique brand. Not only are there goat yoga classes, but a line of goat yoga merchandise as well as satellite goat yoga locations. Those were the things I could clearly see when I started building the brand. But, then something special started happening. I started seeing people use the classes to raise money for their charities! The first one was for a man in Canada who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. I was thrilled, to say the least, that Goat Yoga would be used to raise money for his care. As Goat Yoga spread across the World I started seeing this more and more. I get so many e-mails telling me how much they’ve raised or they tag me on their social media. It’s special for two reasons. One, it’s raising funds for their cause, two, everyone that participates in the class benefits from the therapeutic qualities of the class. It’s a win, win for all!
